Card Version of Sketch # 75

Hi everyone.  You know I like to make card versions of the weekly sketches as well as a page, and so here is my Card Version of sketch #75 from MDS Monday.  I used the same download as my page, "Hello There".   There are still a couple more days to play along with our challenge!  I would love to see what you do with the sketch!!

Here is the sketch.   Head on over to the MDS Monday website to see what the rest of the design team came up with.

Happy Birthday Balloons!

So fast and easy its crazy!
Hi everyone.  I needed a quick birthday card and this one sure was quick, but also super cute.
I opened up my MDS program started a new 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 greeting card project.  I searched my program for balloons and found these in my Lemonade Stand Download.  I added some balloons to my card front and sent it off to print using the Four card front panel option, I figured I may as well print out four since it is simple and I can always use birthday cards.

There are 4 choices at the bottom of your print preview screen.  Choosing the bottom option gives you four card font panels.  I printed them out onto Naturals White card stock.
I next printed out 4 happy birthdays from the same download.

I layered the card fronts onto some card stock in matching colors (So Saffron and Island Indigo)  and added some ribbon.

One of the best things about using My Digital Studio? Customization!!  See how I changed to Happy Birthday to Happy Birthday Maggie?  I resized the speech bubble too! Can't do that with a stamp :)

MDS Monday #75

Hi everyone!  Tara has a fun sketch for us this week at MDS Monday!  I hope that you will give it a try and play along with us!  Go over to the MDS Monday blog to see what the rest of the design time has come up with, then give the sketch a try of your own! We would love to see what you do with the sketch, so be sure to link your page or card back to our site with the link tool at the bottom of the post!  If you don't have a blog to link to, that is OK! You can link back to other galleries such as MyDigitalStudio.net ( a free sharing blog where you can see and add to a photo gallery of samples)

I decided to use some photos that I found on my phone.  Every once and a while Zachary gets a hold of my phone and when he does I always find some silly pictures.
I hope that you will give the sketch a try!!

Card version of MDS Monday #74

Hi everyone!  As many of you know I like to take the page challenges at MDS Monday and also do a card version.  This one was a little more challenging and as I sat looking at the sketch I couldn't quite decide what to do.  Then I was thinking about lists and maybe I could do a like of days and that is where this idea came from.  I think the layout works pretty good for an invitation don't you?  You could do other things too, like a list of veggies and then the highlighted box could say cake or something like that for a birthday.  Or a list of work things and then the highlighted thing a fun thing to do and it could be an invitation to a ladies night.  You get the idea, right?  So, here is my card version of sketch #74.  I hope it gives you a bit of inspiration.
And, incase you were unaware, sketch #74 is still going, we wanted to give some extra time since a lot of us where at the Stampin' Up! convention last week.
Here is the sketch...
I hope that you will play along!!! Check out the designs here at MDS Monday!

MDS Monday #74

Happy Monday everyone!! This week I am hosting the challenge at MDS Monday!  I have a new twist on the grouped photo boxes that we have done in the past.  This time, after creating your grouped photo boxes, I would like you to try this trick, make all but one, black and white.  You don't have to keep to this grouping, make a grouping that works with your photo.  If you decide not to do the grouped boxes, then arrange your photos in a group and do one in color and the rest in black and white.  You can see what I mean by checking out what the rest of the design team came up with on the MDS Monday blog.

Here is the basic sketch...

I couldn't decide if the top page was too dark, so I made another one.  I am still trying to decided which one to print out.

Here is a video showing the grouped photo boxes technique...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=EgDKGDvXtZ0

The only way to get one of your photos color and the rest black and white is to "ungroup" when you are finished, and then change them.
I hope you will give this technique a try, I think it is fun.  And, since a lot of us are going to convention this week, we decided to leave the challenge up for a second week, so you will have plenty of time to give it a try!  We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Thinking of you... soft shells

I love creating Hybrid cards in My Digital Studio.  It is so easy to make multiples.  I wanted to make a card using the shells from the By the seashore set.  I think this set is so soft and pretty.  I loved that it was released digitally because I thought it would make great cards but also be nice on some scrapbook pages. And, its only $3.95 digitally, so it was really a no brainer :)

The first thing I did was print out a bunch of stamps.  I opened an 8 1/2 by 11 page, and added several of  each shell to my page.  I colored them all in crumb cake.  I then printed out the sheet onto Watercolor paper because I wanted to add some subtle colors to the shells, which I admit are so subtle that you can hardly see them in the photo, but in real life you can.

I decided that while I was at it I would also use MDS to make the base layer.  For this I opened a horizontal 5 1/2 by 4 1/4 greeting card. I wanted to have a brushstroke looking image behind the shells, so I did a search through my stamps and choose two I thought worked nicely.  I added them to my card and colored them Crumb Cake.  Next I added a "splatter' stamp and colored it in Baked Brown Sugar.  The final stamp was my sentiment.   With MDS you will see at the bottom that all four sides to you card can be designed, but I only wanted the card front, so I left the others blank.  When printing you can tell the software that you are printing all fronts.  Here is what that looks like...

When you select "Print", a new box will open up.  Here is where you select how you want to print the page.  Notice at the bottom where I placed a red arrow that there are four options?  The first option is what is shown in the print box, basically half sheet folded in half.

The second option is a full sheet, folded in half, then half again.  You could use this is you designed all four sides.

Here is the third option, two cards on one sheet, each fold in half.

Finally we come to the fourth option, and the one I choose, 4 card fronts.

I cut them slightly smaller at 51/4 by 4 so that I could attach them to a brushed gold base layer.

I added a layer of looped gold bakers twine behind the shells.  I do this by just adding a glue dot, making a loop, and sticking it back down in the glue dot.  I usually add another glue dot for good measure.

I attached the shells with some dimensionals.  What do you think? pretty?  and Easy!  The hardest part is cutting out the shells, and really that's easy and I don't mind fussy cutting anyway.
I hope that you will try our some MDS Hybrid cards!!

Don't have MDS?  Try it free here!
Or, better yet, buy the software, its just $19.95 and you get a lot of digital content.  See the content here.

Family Reunion Invite

I decided to play around with the MDS Monday sketch and make a Family reunion card with it as well.  Check yesterday's post to see the scrapbook page and sketch.  This card uses the same Family Spotlight Photobook template as well.  Have you given our challenge a try yet?  Head on over to the MDS Monday site and check it out!

I also remembered that I made this family tree last year and printed it out to frame.  I have a frame on my console table that i change all the time with print outs made from MDS.  I leave them in the frame and change them out every once and a while, so I forgot about this one!  The date at the top is my husband and my wedding date, and then we have the kids names in the leaves.  Cute Huh?

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Family Trees

Hi everyone!  We are working with Family Trees this week at MDS Monday.  I have made a few of these, in fact I have one in the front of each of my kids baby books, all made with MDS.  Here is the sketch for this week at MDS Monday! When you head over to the MDS Monday site you will see that we all used a different tree!  How fun, not planned at all.  I love that you can customize so much in MDS.

Here is my page for this weeks sketch.  I hope to get a newer photo with all the grand-kids, two are missing from this photo :(  It is so hard to get everyone together, harder every year as they get older and get jobs.
I used a tree from the Family Spotlight Photobook Template.  This is a big download.  It comes with a 26 page photobook template, all designed for you (but of course you can customise) as well as 12 svg stamps, 7 designer papers, and 28 embellishments.

This is the page at the beginning of my kids baby books.  It is from the Sweetly Nested download.  Once I made one page it was so easy to make another and just change the text box at the base of the tree to read the boys names instead.  This download comes with the template all done for you, but you also get the images separately in case you want to customize.

Other great Family tree downloads are Bold Branches stamp brush set.

Next in Line digital stamp brush set.

I hope you will stop by the MDS Monday site and see what the rest of the team made with the sketch!  And, I hope you will give it a try yourself!  We can't wait to see what you can do with MDS!

Card Version of MDSM #72

Hi everyone!  I have made a card version of Holly's sketch from MDS Monday! I used the same papers and colors as my page version, from the "Love is all around" digital download.  The stamps I used to fill my boxes are from the "All time Favorite" download.
We hope that you give our MDS Monday challenge a try.  We would love to see what you do with the sketch!  You have until Saturday to add your page to our challenge, but if you don't get it done in time, still give it a try.  A good way to practice using MDS is to take part in challenges or just copy some pages to see how they were done.  You can go through the past challenges at the MDS Monday site for ideas.
